Plano-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group said Friday that it will issue its first quarterly dividend on Jan. 8. The 15-cents-a-share dividend will be paid to stockholders of record as of Dec. 21.

The deadline for buying shares eligible for the dividend is Dec. 16. The stock will begin trading minus the dividend on Dec. 17. (In general, a stock's price drops on the ex-dividend date.)

The board also authorized the repurchase of up to $200 million shares over the next three years.

The nation’s third-largest soft drink maker spun off from London-based Cadbury Schweppes in May 2008.
