Arlington increases settlement in eminent domain cases
10:49 PM CST on Tuesday, February 12, 2008
The City Council agreed Tuesday to pay an additional $868,250 to settle more than two dozen pending eminent domain court cases related to the new Dallas Cowboys stadium.
The six owners of the 26 properties – most of them rental houses – had already received a combined $1.8 million from the city. But they appealed that amount and had requested a jury trial.
The council's vote Tuesday will close those cases, but there are still more properties being disputed in Tarrant County courts. The land for the $1.1 billion stadium has cost $78.7 million.
