Crime blog: Police report details DWI arrest of Mavericks coach Popeye Jones
05:52 PM CST on Thursday, November 5, 2009
Richardson police today released their report, including a detailed narrative, on this week's DWI arrest of Mavericks' coach Ronald "Popeye" Jones. Mark Cuban doesn't think we should care, but here's the document.
Some highlights:
- Other motorists had called police, including one who reported seeing Jones drive his GMC Yukon erratically and nearly rear-end another vehicle "3 to 4 different times." Another motorist told police the Yukon nearly hit several different cars and nearly struck a guard rail while exiting Central Expressway at Belt Line Road.
- Jones acknowledged that he had been drinking.
- Jones resisted officers when they tried to handcuff him, at one point attempting to grab an officer's leg.
