Two men face arson charges in Arlington school fires

03:29 PM CST on Friday, November 6, 2009

By SHAINA ZUCKER / The Dallas Morning News

Two men have been arrested in connection with arson fires over the summer at two Arlington schools.

Tyler Teague

Tyler Teague, 19, and Jordan Thames, 21, are accused of setting fire to bleachers at Martin High and a temporary building at Young Junior High on Aug. 30.

School was not in session at the time, and no one was injured in the fires.

Officials used video surveillance, witness interviews and tips to track down the suspects, Deputy Fire Marshal Darin Niederhaus said.

“The Crime Stopper tips were our No. 1 source,” he said.

Arlington police arrested both men last month: Teague on Oct. 1 during a traffic stop and Thames on Oct. 22 during a criminal mischief call.

They are being held in the Tarrant County Jail on criminal mischief charges and two counts of arson, Niederhaus said.
