11:40 AM CST on Friday, November 20, 2009
One person was killed and two more injured when a 1997 Jeep Cherokee rolled multiple times down an embankment near Grapevine Mills shopping mall.
A female driver was ejected from the jeep, which was heading west on LBJ Freeway and exiting onto southbound Highway 121 at about 1:30 a.m. Friday morning. According to Grapevine Police Lt. Todd Dearing, the vehicle failed to make a curve and tumbled down the hill before stopping in some trees.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and two male passengers were taken to Parkland Hospital. Dearing said one was in intensive care and the other didn’t appear to have life-threatening injuries. Police don’t believe any of the passengers were wearing seat belts.
Police would not release the name of the driver until her family has been notified. They are still investigating the cause of the accident.
