Head-on crash kills 3 near Lavon Lake
05:15 PM CST on Friday, November 20, 2009
Three people were killed in a head-on collision this morning south of Lavon Lake.
The accident happened at 10:07 a.m. on State Highway 205, just east of State Highway 78, about a mile outside of Wylie.
A white Hyundai SUV was traveling north in rainy weather when it possibly hydroplaned and crossed the center line, hitting a white Honda Passport minivan, a Texas Highway Patrol officer said.
Three of the four passengers in the Honda were killed, officer Lonny Haschel said. The fourth, a toddler who was in a child restraint, was taken to Children's Medical Center Dallas. The child's condition wasn't available.
The two people traveling in the Hyundai were taken to Plano Medical Center, and their conditions were unavailable.
The highway has been closed since the wreck and will remain closed for about another hour, Haschel said.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
