FAR NORTHEAST DALLAS

Man arrested, accused of

sex assault at knifepoint

A 27-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at knifepoint was arrested Saturday morning at an apartment complex.

Oscar Godoy was booked into the Dallas County Jail. His bail had not been set Saturday afternoon.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman, told police that Godoy offered her a ride to the apartment complex in the 75200 block of R.L. Thornton Freeway near Ferguson Road.

When the two arrived at the complex just after 4 a.m., Godoy held a knife to her neck and attacked her in his car, she told police.

Police traced 911 calls from the victim to the vicinity. Responding officers detained Godoy after seeing him leaving the complex and drive back in a short time later, but they let him go after verifying that he lived there.

Meanwhile, detectives found the victim with a laceration to her neck. After she described her assailant and his vehicle, police arrested Godoy in his apartment.

Dallas Fire-Rescue treated the victim's neck at the scene, and she was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital for further examination.

Godoy also was being detained on an immigration hold, jail records show.

Man held in standoff

faces additional charges

Authorities have filed additional charges against a 38-year-old man involved in a two-hour standoff with police Friday.

Glenn Harvick of Oak Point surrendered to police after barricading himself inside the home of an acquaintance. Police originally had taken him into custody on an outstanding Dallas County warrant, but added two counts of possessing a controlled substance and one count of kidnapping.

Police said the standoff began about 3 p.m. when Harvick entered a home in the 9300 block of Penton Place uninvited.

Harvick was being held in the Frisco jail on $453,000 bail Saturday.

WEST OAK CLIFF

Armed man shot by

police is identified

An armed man, shot by Dallas police after he barricaded himself inside a gas station Friday, has been identified as 42-year-old Abdel Alakhras of Keller.

Police said Alakhras walked into the Shell Station where he worked in the 3300 block of Illinois Avenue just before noon and confronted the store's manager. His motive remains unclear, police said.

While officers surrounded the station, near the city's boundary with Cockrell Hill, Alakhras aimed a gun at authorities, a police spokesman said.

Officer Christopher Deleon then shot his rifle at Alakhras, striking him once.

Police said Alakhras also may have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Dallas County medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine cause of death.

Alakhras was serving 36 months' probation for evading arrest in Tarrant County last September, according to public records.

Officer Deleon has been with the department for three years. He was put on routine administrative leave pending an investigation.
