Man dies after losing control

of vehicle, running into tree

A Carrollton man died early Sunday after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree in a median.

The Tarrant County medical examiner identified the man as Bryan Thies, 25. Carrollton police said the crash happened about 1:35 a.m. in the 3600 block of Old Denton Road at Rosemeade Parkway.

Police had no further details.

Hospital adds two operating

rooms, surgical equipment

Medical Center of McKinney recently completed an eight-month, $7 million expansion, adding two operating rooms and state-of-the-art surgical equipment to the hospital. The project brings the full-service hospital's surgical suite capacity to six operating rooms.

Medical Center of McKinney is a 259-bed acute-care facility.

3-week-old dies in bed with

mother, but cause unknown

A 3-week-old girl was found dead early Sunday in what police are calling an unexplained death.

The girl's parents were interviewed Sunday, Dallas police Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse said. He said the girl was in bed with her mother and was unresponsive when the mother awoke around 4:30 a.m.

The girl, identified as Navaeh Edwards, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Tealwood on the Creek apartments in the 6000 block of Melody Lane near Park Lane and Greenville Avenue.

Janse said Child Protective Services was notified and that the parents have no other children.

No arrests have been made, and investigators are still working to determine how the girl died.
