Police believe Uptown robberies are linked

Dallas police investigators believe the same men are responsible for at least five armed robberies or attempted robberies of residents in the Uptown area within the last two weeks.

Armed with handguns, two or three men have targeted residents in parking garages, on sidewalks and at banks, police said. They usually strike on Friday or Saturday, though they are believed to have hit again Wednesday night.

Detailed descriptions of the men, who wore ski masks or stocking masks, were not available. They may have been driving a white Cadillac Escalade in one incident, police said. The men have taken cash and other property.

About 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, two men armed with handguns approached a 31-year-old man as he unloaded a vehicle in an apartment complex parking garage in the 2200 block of Cedar Springs Road, according to a Dallas police report.

"Give us some money," one of them told the man, who responded that he did not have any money on him.

"Well, give us something. We'll shoot you," one gunman said. "You don't want to get shot, do you?"

The victim pretended to look for something and the gunmen soon ran away, the report said. A witness saw them as they ran and after they took their masks off, the report said.

The robberies began early June 21, when three armed men approached two people from behind in an apartment complex parking garage in the 2800 block of McKinnon Street, according to a Dallas police report.

They robbed two more people walking together hours later in the 3000 block of Bookhout Street, a police report said.

They are also suspected of robbing three people last weekend in two incidents, first at a bank drive-through in the 2600 block of Cedar Springs Road and later in a bank parking lot in the 2100 block of North Pearl Street, according to police reports.

Anyone with information can call the Dallas police central patrol division at 214-670-4414.
