Out-of-control semi crunches parked cars in Grapevine
12:59 AM CDT on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
GRAPEVINE — Diners at a Macaroni Grill in Grapevine got a shock after an 18-wheeler careened off a nearby highway, crashing into vehicles parked outside the restaurant.
Four twisted vehicles and a tree pulled from its root were all struck by the out-of-control semi in the 700 block of Highway 114.
Authorities said it appears the driver lost control of the rig as he suffered a heart attack.
Investigators were at the scene taking photos of the tracks made by the 18-wheeler, which drove off the highway, across a service road, over a median and into the parked cars.
Two Good Samaritans, both nurses, tried to resuscitate the man. The women said he turned purple.
No details are known on his current condition.
