08:42 AM CDT on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
DALLAS — Dallas police are investigating two ATM thefts overnight, the latest in an epidemic of similar crimes. This time, however, gas stations were not the targets.
Three men broke into a CiCi's Pizza restaurant in the 4800 block of Columbia Avenue in Old East Dallas around 3 a.m. Wednesday and removed a cash machine from the premises.
Also overnight, thieves reportedly used a dolly to haul an ATM from the campus of UT Southwestern University Hospital - St. Paul on Harry Hines Boulevard.
Gas station convenience stores have been the most popular location for cash machine crime in recent weeks.
