Convicted killer arrested for violation

12:27 PM CDT on Thursday, May 15, 2008

Wesley Wayne Miller

Convicted killer Wesley Wayne Miller is in trouble again. If convicted on this charge, he could go to prison for life.

Miller is accused of having a secret, romantic relationship with a female Tarrant County jailer while in custody. That violates the terms of his civil commitment order.

Miller was convicted of murdering former cheerleader Retha Stratton in 1981, but was released last year after serving 24 years and one month in prison.

He became the state's first convicted killer to be committed under the state's sexually violent predator program.

Miller was in the Cold Springs jail when he was arrested.

The female jailer was suspended.

Miller had previously been released on parole in 2004, but was returned to prison after only a few hours when he refused to talk to a sex-offender counselor.
