FORT WORTH — An Alvarado store clerk who was shot in the head by a would-be holdup man early Wednesday morning has died.
Surveillance video showed 52-year-old Karen Burke was alone at the Shell Travel Center at Interstate 35W and Highway 67 when the gunman entered at 1:35 a.m. and shot her at close range.
Police said the gunman fled without any cash after he was unable to open the register.
Burke was pronounced dead shortly after 11 o'clock Thursday night at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
Schepps Dairy is now offering a $10,000 reward for the arrest and indictment of the man who was responsible for the cold-blooded killing.
