Trial begins for murder of Arlington auto worker
07:55 AM CDT on Monday, October 6, 2008
FORT WORTH — Jury selection begins Monday in the murder trial of the man accused of killing Glenda Furch, an automobile assembly worker.
Furch, 51, was last seen on Sept. 28, 2007, when she left her job at the General Motors plant in Arlington. Her body has not been found.
Rodney Owens, a former neighbor of Furch, is suspected of killing her at her apartment in east Fort Worth. Police linked him after finding his fingerprint on a piece of duct tape found inside a Dumpster near Furch's apartment. Investigators also said they found Owens' DNA inside Furch's upstairs apartment.
Owens, 41, of Fort Worth, will be tried in the courtroom of State District Judge Mollee Westfall. Testimony is expected to begin Tuesday and the trial is expected to last about a week.
