News 8 has received many calls from people who are moved by the tragic shootings at Fort Hood and want to help. Here are some options:

The American Red Cross is collecting blood at its facility at 1 Medical Parkway in Farmers Branch (at the northeast corner of LBJ Freeway and Webb Chapel Road). The center will be open until 11 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday. No appointment is necessary.

Carter BloodCare is asking anyone who is able and eligible to make an appointment to give blood. Type O-negative blood is especially needed in the Central Texas area. All donors are urged to call and make an appointment at 800-366-2834.

• Checks can be mailed to the Fort Hood Chaplain's Fund:
