ARLINGTON – Reliever Jason Grilli has been with the Rangers only five days, but he's already putting his love of gadgets and marketing to use. Grilli, who was a marketing major at Seton Hall, let his followers know via Twitter during Wednesday night's rain delay that he was given his old jersey number, 49, from Doug Mathis. Grilli, who had been issued No. 52, was introduced to Twitter by new teammate C.J. Wilson.

He is my new best friend and teammate. Thx Doug!" Grilli said he is hoping his Twitter viewers will follow him to a business he has on the side. His Web site, www.perfectpitchmar keting.net, reveals his marketing skills and involvement with video phones. But the side business wasn't the first thing on Grilli's mind Thursday; it was celebrating getting No. 49 back. Grilli said the number is special because his father, Steve, wore it in his four years with the Detroit Tigers in the 1970s. "I've worn it ever since I was in Detroit," said Grilli, who has a baseball card of his father hanging from his locker. "My dad put me in a good place and taught me well. I want to be like my dad."
