Quentin Griffin hit paydirt six times in Oklahoma's romp.

Coaches: Bob Stoops (Oklahoma); Mack Brown (Texas)

Hero: OU's co-defensive coordinator Mike Stoops designed a scheme that caused confusion in Texas' ground game, then blitzed relentlessly from a three-man front. "We committed to stop the run and not give up big plays," said Stoops, the brother of head coach Bob. "We came at them at different angles and always had speed on the field."

Notable: OU's national champion-to-be defense held Texas to minus-7 yards rushing, and Major Applewhite and Chris Simms were sacked for minus-30 yards. Cornerback Derrick Strait led the Sooners with 10 tackles.

Coaches: Bob Stoops (Oklahoma); Mack Brown (Texas)

Hero: Oklahoma safety Roy Williams made the signature play nearing the two-minute mark when he landed on Chris Simms as Simms attempted to pass. The ball wound up in the arms of linebacker Teddy Lehman, who walked two yards into the end zone. "Coach had told me before not to jump," Williams said. "When I did it before, I left a gap open."

Notable: This was the first time both teams entered unbeaten and ranked in the top five since 1984. The Sooners didn't lose a thing when starting quarterback Nate Hybl left the game with a left shoulder injury and backup Jason White ran the option flawlessly.
