West Virginia at Cincinnati, 7 p.m. today (ESPN2): Cincinnati remains undefeated and part of the BCS discussion, thanks to one of the best fill-in jobs since Wally Pipp got a headache. Tony Pike guided Cincinnati to a six consecutive victories before injuring his left (non-throwing) arm. Enter redshirt sophomore Zach Collaros, who might have played as well as any quarterback in the nation in his last three starts. He's completed 88.7 percent of his passes for 1,100 yards and eight touchdowns while running for 281 yards and four TDs. Collaros is scheduled to return to the sidelines against Illinois in a week, but he's a key for Cincinnati's BCS hopes tonight. Utah (+17) at TCU 6:30 CBSCS Pick: TCU 33, Utah 12 Comment: TCU enters with a No. 4 ranking in the BCS, spiffy new Nike uniforms and a 12-game home winning streak. One cautionary note: the last team to beat TCU in Fort Worth? Utah. Iowa (15 ½ ) at Ohio State 2:30 ESPN Pick: Ohio State 26, Iowa 9 Comment: Iowa saw its national title hopes disappear last week and could see its Big Ten chances do the same. Redshirt freshman James Vandenberg replaces injured Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi. Stanford (+11) at USC 2:30 FSSW Pick: USC 28, Stanford 15 Comment: Pete Carroll's one home loss since 2003 came against underdog Stanford two years ago. The Cardinal is far better now but won't hurt Carroll's 28-0 record in November. Tex. Tech (+3 ½ ) at Okla. St. 7:00 Ch. 8 Pick: Okla. St. 31, T. Tech 29 Comment: Each team will go to a bowl game, but each might regret missed opportunities at home. Expect Taylor Potts to start as the Tech quarterback shuffle continues. Texas A&M (+18) at Okla. 6:00 FSSW Pick: Okla. 47, Texas A&M 28 Comment: Jerrod Johnson could break four Texas A&M passing records Saturday. An even bigger accomplishment would be securing the Aggies' first victory in Norman since 1997. Florida at S. Carolina (+15) 2:30 Ch. 11 Pick: Fla. 30, S. Carolina 13 Comment: Steve Spurrier said he doesn't plan to retire after this season, but the November spirals and lack of big wins have to be taking a toll on the Old Ball Coach. Texas at Baylor (+24 ½ ) 11 a.m. FSSW Pick: Texas 38, Baylor 10 Comment: Baylor's win over Missouri gave the Bears confidence, but it also got Texas' attention. Don't expect the No. 3 Longhorns to overlook Baylor in their march toward the BCS. Nebraska at Kansas (+3 ½ ) 2:30 Ch. 8 Pick: Nebraska 12, Kansas 6 Comment: Nebraska allowed 76 points to Kansas two seasons ago. The Huskers haven't yielded 76 points in five Big 12 games. Now, if they can generate a TD drive longer than 50 yards... Missouri (+2 ½ ) at Kan. St. 11:30 a.m. Versus Pick: K-State 19, Missouri 12 Comment: Missouri resorted to a players meeting this week. The Tigers will need a miracle to get in the Big 12 race. Speaking of miracles, Bill Snyder is working on his second at Kansas State. UTEP (+7) at SMU 2:00 Metro Pick: SMU 35, UTEP 33 Comment: Bowl eligibility looms for SMU with one more victory. Given everything that's happened since '84, SMU and its fans should relish taking a major step back to national viability. N. Texas (+2½) at Fla. Int. 6:00 Pick: Fla. Int. 27, N. Texas 23 Comment: North Texas begins a three-game closing stretch of winnable games with Florida International.
