Gleneagles Country Club in Plano will host the International Final Qualifier for the British Open for the second consecutive year, the club announced. The 2010 British Open is at St. Andrews in Scotland. The 36-hole qualifying event will be May 24, the Monday after the HP Byron Nelson Championship and the week of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial. Last year's event determined eight qualifiers for the British Open. Clarke Kincaid of Trophy Club CC and Mina Hardin of Fort Worth's Mira Vista CC won titles in the GolfDFW.com Tournament of Champions at Lantana GC. Kincaid shot a final-round 67 for a two-day total of 142 to edge Chuck Palmer of Royal Oaks CC by one shot in the men's competition. Hardin shot 76-71–147 to win the women's title by six shots over Kathy Crumley of Lakewood CC of Dallas. Gary Ezmerlian (144) and Krista Manning (157) led Ridglea CC of Fort Worth to the team title. The Practice Tee dedicated its new facility in Richardson last week. The new location, at 3570 Waterview Parkway, features an 85-station grass driving range with 10 covered stations, a nine-hole short-game course, an 18-hole grass putting course, a short-game practice area and state-of-the-art teaching and club-fitting services. • A team of 12 club professionals from the Southern Texas PGA chapter edged their counterparts from the Northern Texas chapter in the Joe Black Cup matches, 13-11, last week at Miramont CC in Bryan. The STPGA victory squared the overall series at 14-14-1. • Steve Prince, assistant pro at Dallas CC, captained his 12-man squad of NTPGA assistants to an 18-6 victory over the South Central PGA team representing Oklahoma and Arkansas in the James P. Jordan Cup matches at Hurricane Creek CC in Anna. The NTPGA leads the overall series, 17-2. • Three local juniors received player of the year honors from the Legends Junior Tour. Richardson's Hunter Brown, now a freshman at Texas, was honored in the boys 15-18 age group, Plano's Kaci McCartan won for girls 15-18 and Maddie Szeryk of Allen shared the award for girls 14 and under. • Carrollton Creekview graduate, Paige Gibson, a sophomore at Houston Baptist, won her first collegiate title at the UT-Pan American Classic at Edinburg. • Tour pros made 1,412 birdies during the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial last May, generating $3.7 million for 25 local Fort Worth charities through the Birdies for Charity program.
