Three stars

1. Marty Turco, Stars: There would have been no comeback without him.

2. James Neal, Stars: A fluky goal, a fluky assist, and he earned both

3. Evgeni Nabokov, San Jose: Had 34 saves and anchored Sharks attack.

Highlights

First period: Both teams exchanged solid scoring chances, but Marty Turco and Evgeni Nabokov were outstanding in net. Turco faced nine shots and Nabokob 10. Turco’s biggest stop came on Scot Nichol in front, while Nabokov stopped a flurry of Brenden Morrow shots on one scrum in front of the net.

Second period: San Jose built momentum on a power play, and then scored 21 seconds after it expired. Joe Pavelski with a nice wraparound pass from behind the net into the slot, and Dany Heatltey flipped it in around Karlis Skrastins at the 10:32 mark. The Sharks then took over, and Ryane Clowe whipped a shot from the left point that deflected in off of Loui Eriksson’s stick at the 12:43 mark.

Third period: Looking for a needed break, the Stars got one when a James Neal pass bounced in off of Jason Demers and looped over Evgeni Nabokov. The Stars then took over the game, earning a Mike Modano goal to tie the game at the 7:35 mark and putting all kinds of pressure on Nabokov down the stretch. Mike Modano took a slash with 2:26 remaining, but Marty Turco killed it off.

Overtime/Shootout: James Neal had a couple of nice scoring chances in overtime, but couldn’t dent the net. Marty Turco stopped Devin Setoguchi and Dan Boyle. Neal then hit the post in the shootout before Stephane Robidas won it as the third shooter.
