First period: In a fight-filled period, the Stars went 0-for-3 on the power play, while Columbus scored both with the man advantage and short-handed. Rick Nash pounded in a loose puck in a goal-mouth scrum for the power-play goal at 8:30. Kristian Huselius then stole the puck from Mike Ribeiro and scored short-handed on an unassisted breakaway with 0.3 seconds left in the period.

Columbus 2, Stars 0

Second period: James Neal took a five-minute major penalty for boarding Derek Dorsett, and Columbus scored twice with the man advantage. Huselius found himself open in the slot three minutes into the penalty for the first goal, and Raffi Torres scored off a nice pass from Jakub Voracek 20 seconds later. Mike Modano whipped in a one-timer for Dallas to make it 4-1.

Columbus 4, Stars 1

Third period: The Blue Jackets shut things down and rode out the game. They even had a couple of good scoring chances. The Stars had one power-play, but Brenden Morrow took a hooking penalty six seconds in to end it.
