How far is a marathon?

From Staff Reports

From a Dallas-Fort Worth perspective, to go 26.2 miles, you could ...

• Drive from the RoughRiders Stadium in Frisco to American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas.

• Drive from SMU to the Gaylord Texan hotel in Grapevine.

• Run the bases at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington 384 times.

• Ride the Titan at Six Flags 26 times.

• Drive from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport to TCU in Fort Worth.

• Ride the Texas Star at the State Fair 218 times.

Or the especially adventurous could ...

• Climb Mount Everest 4¾ times. But only if you can find a way to climb straight up, through the center of the mountain. Most people opt for the more traditional routes up the side, which are a little longer.

• Spend just seven minutes at the Indy 500, keeping up with 2007 winner Dario Franchitti. Of course, to do this, you'd have to exceed 220 mph, a speed no human has managed to attain.
