Two-year-old dies in apparent road rage accident
10:36 PM CDT on Friday, May 2, 2008
A possible case of road rage led to the death of a 2 year old child this afternoon near Kyle.
This is all that's left of a car that was crushed by an 18 wheeler. Pieces of twisted metal and personal belongings lie on the roadway.
Police say it began when words were exchanged between the driver of the car and a motorcyclist.
“The passenger car was involved in some sort of communication,” said Captain Pedro Hernandez of the Kyle Police Department. “We’re not sure if it’s an altercation with a motorcycle up at the intersection of Kyle Parkway and the east Frontage road just north of us here.”
Then a deadly decision, Police say the car sped off chasing the motorcycle along the southbound access road of I-35.
“They lost control of vehicle and struck the 18-wheeler,” said Hernandez.
A two-year-old child inside the car was killed. Two adults were injured and flown to Brackenridge Hospital. Two other passengers another adult and child were not hurt. The driver of the 18 wheeler was not injured.
The motorcycle did not stop and police are looking for the rider. It’s described as a brown custom chopper style bike with orange flames.
The names of the victims have not been released.
