05:42 PM CDT on Sunday, May 4, 2008
A big cat was sighted in the southern part of Williamson County. Officials say it’s possibly a mountain lion.
The animal was seen in the Brushy Creek subdivision near Great Oaks and Racine Drive at around 11:00 Sunday morning. The person who found it took a photo with his phone, but the animal is obscured by a tree.

If you look closely, you can see the animal's tail poking out behind the tree.
Patrols to find the animal took place Sunday afternoon and were scheduled to last into the night.
Officials recommend extreme caution when using the hike and bike trails in the area. They say if you come across the animal to call 911 and do not approach it.
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has contacted Texas Parks and Wildlife about the animal.
