Backers of the Villa Muse entertainment facility Monday announced negotiations to build near the City of Austin are officially over.

Developers had wanted to build the project in Austin's future growth zone in Eastern Travis County

In March, backers asked the city to release nearly 2,000 acres from its development regulations, but the Austin City Council rejected the plan.

On Monday, a lawyer for Villa Muse announced the project will look to build elsewhere.
