Man pleads guilty in Halloween holdup
04:57 PM CDT on Friday, May 9, 2008
The last defendant in a Halloween hold-up has pleaded guilty.
Jerry Cantu, 23, pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery and faces 35 years in federal prison.
Last fall, three men armed with shotguns stormed into a Wachovia Bank in Northwest Austin. They robbed tellers and customers, forcing everyone into the bank's vault, and they took off.
Police found the getaway car a few minutes later and eventually arrested the men -- along with a fourth man originally thought to be a witness.
The other three men were sentenced last month.
