Residents in the small town of Salado are all abuzz about their famous and unexpected visitors this past weekend.
No one knew that Jenna Bush and her famous dad would be in town for her rehearsal dinner.
Grainer Esch, the owner of the historic Spur Theater in Salado had no idea that a reservation made in October would bring in a famous face on Friday.
“I didn't know for months that it was going to be the Bush family, I didn't find out until the day of,” he said. “I'm glad I didn't know about it really in hindsight, because probably I would have been freaking out a little bit, not to mention it would have been really difficult to keep the secret.”
More than 100 guests were treated to dinner and dancing and they were later joined by the President and Mrs. Bush.
“The first family decided to head to the Spur Theater, but instead of driving, they chose to walk down the street, causing quite the spectacle,” said Esch.
Rick Ashe, the mayor Salado, is one of many who is hoping the famous visit will bring in more tourists.
“If the President's daughter wants to get married, she could get married anywhere in the world and she did her reception here in Salado, so we're really proud of that,” he said.
“It's kind of a George Washington slept here kind of thing, it will certainly increase a little more interest,” said Esch.
