Accused serial killer's sister testifies in pre-trial hearing
10:57 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
An accused serial killer's sister testified in a pre-trial hearing Wednesday that her brother, Paul Devoe called her and her mother in New Jersey three to four times in August of 2007 to admit that he'd shot people in Texas and was on the run.
Elizabeth Petrie didn't want her face shown on camera when she testified but she told the judge that she and her mother asked Devoe not to hurt anyone else and they asked him to turn himself in.
But defense attorneys for Devoe asked Petrie if their client admitted to killing anyone in particular to which she responded "No."
The judge heard several jail recordings of Paul Devoe in conversations he had with friends in which he says he'll probably get the death penalty.
The judge made no decision Wednesday on whether or not she'll allow the incriminating statements made by Devoe in his upcoming trial this Fall.
Another pre-trial hearing is scheduled for June 10th.
