A small plane made a crash landing and ended up in a field east of ABIA Monday June 29, 2009.
ABIA officials say the plane, a SR 22 aircraft, was headed from Houston to Austin but the pilot decided he could not make it.
The plane made a crash landing on private ranch land off Highway 71, but the aircraft appeared to be intact with some wing and wheel damage. Only the pilot was on board and he was not injured.
Texas Department of Public Safety investigators say a mechanical failure caused the plane to go down.
Officials say the FAA will investigate.
