Tuesday was the last day for Austin ISD Superintendent Pat Forgione, and he picked up a check for more than $215,000 for unused vacation -- 174 accumulated days to be exact.

Forgione has been with AISD for 10 years-- his current salary is about $285,000.

Incoming superintendent Meria Carstarphen's contract gives her the same benefits. Her first day on the job is Wednesday July 1.
