'Brown bag specials' land 22 in jail
10:28 PM CDT on Thursday, July 3, 2008
Employees at 17 convenience stores in Williamson County have been arrested for selling drug paraphernalia.
Over the course of five months, Williamson County authorities went to 120 random stores, trying to buy “the brown bag special.” Inside each bag was a glass tube, steel wool and a lighter, all the elements for a pipe to smoke crack or methamphetamine.
They were sold to undercover agents at 17 of those stores. Some stores went as far as to have the brown bags already made up and ready for sale.
Twenty-two people have been arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges of delivery of drug paraphernalia.
