Barbara Jordan and Volma Overton elementary schools and Gus Garcia Middle School were placed on lockdown after reports that one person was shot on Kildare Cove.

Police say the victim, a teenager, was rushed to Dell Children's Medical Center. The extent of the teen's injuries was unknown, but initial reports indicated they were life-threatening.

Police believe the shooter -- also a teenager -- was inside a house on Kildare, and the Austin SWAT team was called in. No other information was immediately available.

AISD police were stationed at all three schools, but officials say no parents or visitors will be allowed near Jordan or Overton until the situation is resolved. Classes had already ended at those schools when the incident happened, but there were some students in after-school programs.

Parents will be able to pick up Garcia students, but buses were not taking students to their homes.
