Lawmakers move into new offices
02:26 PM CST on Wednesday, November 29, 2006
State lawmakers may be out of session, but the State Capitol hallways were bustling Wednesday with activity.
All month long lawmakers are moving into new offices, because of retiring members and incoming freshmen lawmakers. Office assignments are based on seniority.
A moving crew helps staffers haul the furniture and large boxes, but the staffers do a lot of the moving, too.
"We're moving. We're boxing the whole office up. Moving down into a bigger office. More windows, more floor space, more chaos," said David Quin, Legislative Director for State Sen. Royce West.
The decision to move is up to the house or senate member. While most do choose to move into a new space, some opted to stay right where they were.
