The gunman in a deadly shooting is still on the loose.

Austin police are looking for a heavy set black man driving a white, police-style, older model Caprice or Impala with dark tinted windows.

Meanwhile, people living in the northeast Austin neighborhood where the shooting took place say they do not know why anyone would have wanted to hurt the victim.

“It's a tragedy that just happened...I can't believe it happened,” said Tammy Malligan.

She was one of the last people to see the shooting victim...as good friends; she says he'd often visit her at home on Aberdeen way.

“He had just left my house -- just left my house,” said Malligan.

Malligan says it was less than five minutes after he left her home, just before 1:00 Saturday afternoon that she heard gunshots.

She ran out and found her friend shot outside, two houses down from her own.

Malligan - and another mutual friend, Brittney Taylor - say they have no idea of who could have shot the victim and saw nothing suspicious prior to the crime.

Austin police agree details have been slim.

“Witness testimony is a huge part of this investigation and once they get that going they can get some more information - forensics is out here and they will process the crime scene and that's always a big help as well and we're confident we will find this suspect,” said APD spokesperson Veneza Aguinaga.

But confidence isn't running strong on this block.

Senaida Casiano lives nearby and worries for her kid’s safety.

“My girls they love to come over here to visit their grandpa and their aunt but they're not allowed to run outside or play with their bicycles,” said Casiano.

Neighbors we talked to say they worry for the kids playing outside because shoots are heard often on this street - and police aren't seen often enough.

“They call the police, like maybe every weekend,” said Casiano.

“I’m ready to move - cuz this right here is, like I said we got too many kids out here ... This is the last straw right here,” said Malligan.
