U.S. Marshals capture alleged machete killer In West Virginia

HOUSTON—A major fugitive wanted on outstanding Texas state charges for homicide has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Elkins, West Virginia.

A man wanted for murder with a machete was captured.
Leon Andrade, 36, was being sought on a warrant issued in Harris County charging him with homicide. Andrade is accused of killing William Huang in March 2006. Andrade allegedly attacked Huang, a minister and owner of Lucky Seafood Market at 74 E. Crosstimbers, with a machete. Huang died as a result of the attack which took place near his restaurant. It is also alleged that Andrade’s teenage daughter witnessed the attack.
Investigators with the Houston based U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders & Fugitive Task Force developed leads in West Virginia and sent that information to US Marshals in Elkins, West Virginia who arrested Andrade today at approximately 12pm in Elkins, Randoph County, West Virginia. Andrade is being held in Tygart Regional Jail pending extradition proceedings.
Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by Marshals than all other federal agencies combined.
