Brazoria County unites to welcome polygamists' children
05:33 PM CDT on Wednesday, April 23, 2008
On Wednesday, state authorities said that they had finished taking DNA samples from all the children removed from a polygamist compound more than two weeks ago.
Some of those children will be heading towards Liverpool, Texas.
It is a small town showing a lot of heart. The population there is 630.
But even the simplest things may not be for children raised on unusual foods.
“Not real sure what they can eat or what they’re allowed to eat,” said Liverpool Mayor Mike Peters. “We’ll find out more when the children get here.”
Liverpool is the nearest town from Kidz Harbor.
About two miles away from that facility lives Angela Probe. She is the nearest neighbor.

Churches and residents in Liverpool are focused on helping the children of the West Texas polygamist compounds. Several of those children headed to the Kidz Harbor facility in that Brazoria County town.
“They said they were bringing in some of the children,” said Probe.
The children’s story is clearly a gripping and emotional one.
But now churches and residents are focused on helping out with foster care said Probe.
Kidz Harbour welcomes each new resident with a duffle bag of items.
While it does get state funding for clients, resources are still tight.
In fact, they were short 24 beds until The Room Store in Webster came the rescue this week.
Sharon Beard is the business manager at Kidz Harbor. “Of course it puts any program in a bind to receive that many kids at any one time. We would be happy to receive any kind of cash donations. We’re (also) looking for transportation."
Donation of cash, non perishable foods, transportation, bedding and personal hygiene for the kids expected at the Kidz Harbor Facility are being accepted at the Liverpool Texas City Hall on 7th Street in Liverpool, Texas.
You can call (281) 581-2233 or 2220 7th Street Kidz Harbor Facility.
Other children will be headed to a facility in Hockley northwest of Houston.
