09:56 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 7, 2008
DICKINSON, Texas— A 15-year-old student was stabbed at Dickinson High School Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
The unidentified male student was rushed to UTMB's John Sealy Hospital. His condition was unknown, but he is reportedly conscious and talking to investigators.
The stabber fled the scene right after the attack.
Police would not identify the suspect, because he is a juvenile, but they said he is also a 15-year-old student at the school.
Officers were working with the suspect’s family to find him.
The incident occurred just as classes ended. The victim, a freshman, was stabbed in the back.
Police investigators said the stabbing happened in the middle of the hallway and may have been captured on the school’s surveillance cameras.
The knife has yet to be found.
School officials said there will be extra security on campus Thursday.
