05:14 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 7, 2008
HOUSTON—The capital murder trial of confessed cop killer Juan Quintero was drawing to a close Wednesday.
Quintero is accused in the shooting death of HPD Officer Rodney Johnson in 2006.
As the defense wrapped up their case, Johnson’s mother sat in the courtroom for the very first time.
“It hurts. I’m not going to see my baby anymore, and I’m still hurting,” she said.
Mrs. Johnson said she hadn’t attended before because she couldn’t bear hearing the heart-wrenching details of her son’s death.
