More Houstonians are riding the bus
08:46 AM CDT on Thursday, May 8, 2008
The latest numbers show that more people are using Metro these days.
That’s no surprise, given the price of gas.
It seems people find it cheaper to take mass transit and Metro.
In fact, Metro told 11 News that ridership this year is up by about 100,000 people.
Metro expects those numbers to increase.
Laura Regan is one of those commuters who now takes the bus. “It actually takes me about 20 minutes longer in the morning, but, uh, I save a lot of time in the afternoon. It saves me a little time with bad weather, accidents, that kind of thing, but typically it’s about twenty minutes longer in the morning, but worth the money.”
Regan says she expects to continue taking the bus.
