District Attorney Kenneth Magidson issued a statement at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Siegler’s resignation becomes effective at the end of the day.
Magidson in a statement said, “Ms. Siegler has tirelessly served the citizens of Harris County during her long and distinguished prosecutorial career. She has been a steadfast advocate for crime victims, a pioneer in the art of cold case prosecution, and a charismatic role model for young prosecutors.”
Magdison went on to say that Siegler’s leadership will be missed.
It is not known yet exactly what Siegler will do next.
Siegler ran for Harris County DA after Chuck Rosenthal resigned, but failed.
Former District Court Judge Pat Lykos defeated the flamboyant prosecutor in the Republican runoff.
