Dickinson High stabbing suspect caught
04:18 PM CDT on Friday, May 9, 2008
DICKINSON -- A 15-year-old boy wanted in connection to the in-school stabbing of a Dickinson High School student was captured Friday afternoon.
Dickinson police said they apprehended Osmand Osman Miftari at an apartment complex in Seabrook, which is just a few minutes drive from where the stabbing took place Wednesday. Miftari’s family members are the ones who directed officers to the apartment, Dickinson police said.
While a juvenile, Dickinson police took the unusual step to request a court order from a county court judge to release Miftari’s name and photo in an effort to catch him.
Meanwhile, the 15-year-old stabbing victim had surgery at Galveston’s UTMB John Seal Hospital and was released from the hospital Thursday. He is expected to make a full recovery.
