As dusk fell in El Paso, pedestrians made their way across the bridge to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

The activity occurred as a crime scene was captured on Mexican newscasts.

That murder was part of a 24 hour killing spree there.

In all, about half a dozen people were murdered in the Mexican border city.

At least eight were wounded by gunfire. Some of the injured were U.S. citizens.

It’s unclear if they were targeted or merely bystanders.

One man arrived at the international bridge with gunshot wound said Roger Maier with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. “Officers at the PDN Bridge were notified by motorists that there appeared to be an individual down on the sidewalk about ten yards on the U.S. side of the border, apparently a gunshot victim.”

The injured man survived.

So did three police officers from Juarez. They were shot on a popular tourist strip that sits just a few blocks from the border. It’s another nightspot frequented by Americans.

“Four people got shot outside a nightclub,” said Art Rayon. He’s an El Paso resident.

But the violence was not going to stop Rayon from testing his luck with a bet at Sportsbook just across the border.
