Beard battle could cost Houston $150,000
03:42 PM CDT on Monday, May 12, 2008
The City of Houston will vote on whether to spend thousands fighting a facial hair lawsuit.
The case centers around four Houston police officers who filed a federal discrimination lawsuit against HPD over their beards.
The officers have not been allowed to wear a uniform because of the department’s strict no facial hair policy.
The officers say they have a painful skin condition that is irritated by shaving.
This week the city will vote to spend $150,000 on outside counsel to fight the suit.
