Kiddie burglars sought in school break-ins
12:52 PM CDT on Wednesday, May 14, 2008
HOUSTON—Nine laptop computers and several more desktop computers were stolen recently from a Spring Branch ISD elementary school. The burglars were even caught on video breaking in.
But they weren’t your everyday crooks.
According to the surveillance tapes, the suspects appear to be a trio of elementary school-aged bandits.
It is difficult to tell exactly how old the three suspects are, but authorities think they are likely students at Hollibrook Elementary School.
No matter what their age, they don’t seem to be scared of getting caught.
In the security video released by Crime Stoppers, the smallest kiddie burglar is seen squeezing through a gap above a doorway and lowering himself down.
Then he opens the door for two others, and all three kids head into the building.
The bandits allegedly took the computers in three separate incidents; twice in February and again on March 29.
There are a number of security cameras at the school, and the thieves were captured on film coming in and heading out of the building during each burglary.
The students were seen heading towards apartment complexes in the Hollister and Pitner Road areas in Spring Branch.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
