DAISETTA, Texas -- The camera shy alligator that has taken up residence in the Daisetta sinkhole has finally been captured on film. Someone with the Texas Railroad Commission snapped a few shots of the gator Friday afternoon.

Someone snapped this shot of an alligator that has taken up residence in the sinkhole near Dasietta.
Turns out though the gator is not as big as advertised. Eyewitnesses described a 12-foot gator that had been seen swimming in the muck at the bottom of the 260-foot deep sinkhole that formed May 7 in the small Liberty County town.
The gator captured in the photo by the Railroad Commission staffer, and first featured in the Houston Chronicle, is more like 7-feet in length. Still, it is the latest talk of the town in Daisetta, where people are still wondering when the main road through town will reopen.
