Budget ax falls in Cy-Fair ISD
03:16 PM CDT on Thursday, May 22, 2008
CYPRESS, Texas -- The Cy-Fair school district is tightening the purse strings, which will have a big impact on some teachers, as well as students.
A letter sent to employees from Cy-Fair ISD Superintendent David Anthony confirms that the district will be cutting $27 million from the budget.
As a result, more than 450 positions have been eliminated. And for the first time in a long time, employees will not be getting raises.
Anthony blames the budget deficit on the state’s funding formula. He's lobbying the legislature to fix the problem with hopes of securing more money for the district.
