Joe Horn's neighbors brace for protests

PASADENA, Texas -- Residents of a once-quiet Pasadena neighborhood are bracing for more protests as a Harris County grand jury decides whether or not to indict Joe Horn.
Horn shot and killed two suspected burglars he said were breaking in to his neighbor’s home back in December.
The incident sparked a heated national debate over the use of deadly force that culminated in a number of protests on Horn’s neighborhood.
“I just wish it was in the past, and maybe we can get on with our lives,” resident Kemble Lehman said.
But no matter the outcome of the grand jury hearing, Horn’s neighbors fear more protests are headed their way.

In response to past protests, the city revised a law, making it illegal for demonstrations to target a specific house or neighborhood.
“We certainly don’t want to invite a confrontation, but we don’t want things to get completely out of hand either,” Pasadena PD’s Bud Corbett said.
Residents aren’t sure it will make a difference, especially since the man at the center of the anti-Horn demonstrations is promising a repeat performance in the neighborhood as early as Monday.
“If Joe Horn is not indicted, we’re going back to the house, back to the neighborhood to exercise our constitutional rights,” local activist Quanell X said.
That could mean more confrontation and more unease for folks who live nearby.
“I’m gonna stay in my house. I’m not gonna get involved again,” one Horn neighbor said.
They hope the sound of silence will drown out whatever else might happen next week.
