HOUSTON -- The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit found a newborn baby with drugs and weapons nearby while executing a search warrant in Freeport, Texas.

After a two-month investigation, sheriffs issued the search warrant for the home located in the 900 block of West 6th Street. 

After entering the residence, officers noticed that every room in the residence reeked of a burning marijuana odor.  They found five people inside the residence, including an infant. 

The two suspects who lived in the residence were not at home at the time. They were identified as 21-year-old Guadalupe Muraira and 24-year-old Margaret Solis.

Police found Muraira and Solis’ baby lying alone on a mattress in a small bedroom.  Approximately 15.9 grams of cocaine, as well as several loaded shotguns and a loaded handgun, were located in close proximity to the infant. 

Police say the other people inside the residence were temporarily staying there due to property damage caused by Hurricane Ike. 

The children were released to a family member and Child Protective Services was notified. 

Charges are pending on Muraira and Solis for possession of a controlled substance and injury to a child.
