Crash leaves Houston man hospitalized
04:48 PM CDT on Monday, October 13, 2008
HOUSTON – Houston police are trying to find out if drunk driving is to blame for a car crash in a southwest Houston neighborhood.
Witnesses say that the driver was speeding down Wilcrest when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed through several front yards.
The man’s car finally came to a stop after hitting a large tree.
The homeowner named Victoria says she was asleep when the commotion woke her up.
“I just hear a loud sound like thunder, and then I said ‘what’s going on?’ I went back down to lie down and then I heard conversation going on outside. I got up and I peeped through the bedroom window, and I saw this thing fall down there. I got up, came out and looked outside, and saw the car right up at my door,” said Victoria.
The driver survived the crash, but rescue crews had to pry open the car in order to get him out.
That man is in stable condition at a local hospital.
