Houston jury deciding fate for man accused of grilling ex-girlfriend
10:08 AM CDT on Monday, October 13, 2008
HOUSTON—Testimony resumes Monday in the Timothy Shepherd murder trial, and officials say that there is a chance that Shepherd will take the stand.
Last week, a Harris County jury convicted Shepherd of killing his ex-girlfriend, Tynesha Stewart.
That same jury must now decide if Shepherd should spend the rest of his life in prison.
Prosecutors have told the jury Shepherd strangled Stewart, dismembered her body, grilled her remains and threw them in a dumpster.
Stewart was home on spring break from Texas A & M when the crime occurred.
Her friends and classmates testified that Shepherd was a jealous, controlling man who threatened to kill her when she started dating someone else.
